Ergonomic Computer Mouse

If you spend a lot of time on a computer (as many of us do nowadays), you are at risk of developing the dreaded carpal tunnel syndrome. No one like carpal tunnel, and aside from being a contemporary affliction, it really hurts a lot.

Well,Vadim Kibardin of Kidardin Design has designed this levitating mouse, which would not only treat, but could also prevent carpal tunnel.

Obviously, we love ergonomics, and this mouse is such a great idea that we couldn’t NOT share it with you. While the mouse is still in the design phase, the idea itself is awesome, and when we know more about it, we will definitely pass it along!

The Case for Good Posture

At Workplace Resource we hate when you’re not comfortable. We quite literally are campaigning for good posture, and for good reason. We’ve said it many times, and we’ll say it again: WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER, YOU WORK BETTER!

Herman Miller also understands the importance of our comfort level while working, and they have waged a battle against bad posture. One of their integral pieces in this battle is the Embody chair. The Embody chair is designed specifically for those who work at computers for hours, and is meant to keep your body and brain limber all day.

Watch this video by Herman Miller about the design of the Embody chair and you’ll see why its such an innovative piece of furniture:

Jeff Weber, the designer of the Embody chair, mentions that “technology often dictates our posture,” but with Embody that is no longer the case.

The Envelop System

If you follow our blog, you know that one of our goals is to make you more comfortable while you’re working. We have discussed the need for you to move throughout your workday, and the fact that it is important for you to change postures. Sure, it’s easy for you to adjust your chair, or your monitor, but what about your desk?

Herman Miller has developed the Envelop desk, which is actually a revolutionary product considering the history of work surfaces in the workplace. Herman Miller has developed the Envelop desk using ergonomic principles, which has produced an adjustable desk.

Herman Miller and HP Want You to Move Better

Today we bring you another great video by Herman Miller and HP. Before we’ve encouraged you to listen to your body, to utilize your chair’s entire support, and to accommodate your vision with your posture. Today we are here to tell you about the benefits of moving around during your workday.

It may sound odd, but it is actually important for you to stand throughout the day. We realize that you are most likely seated most of the day at work, but it is actually beneficial for your comfort for you to stand at some point during the day. The tricky part is that standing too long can cause back pain, just the way that sitting too long can cause too. You truly must find a happy medium.

Standing allows you muscles and discs in your back to re-align and allows your back to take on its natural “S” contour. While it may seem extremely odd to do your work standing, you should definitely give it a try; you’ll probably be surprised by the results.

Does your workplace allow you to stand if necessary?
